Power Luggage Compartment Lid

Power Open

The power luggage compartment lid power open operation begins when:

Once the RGTM receives an open request, the power luggage compartment lid opens by carrying out the following:

If any of the power luggage compartment lid switches or a double press of the button on a RKE transmitter occurs during a power open, the luggage compartment lid stops and holds its position.

Power Close

The power luggage compartment lid power close operation begins when:

Once the close request is received, the power luggage compartment lid closes by carrying out the following:

If any of the power luggage compartment lid switches or the button on the RKE transmitter is pressed during a power close, the luggage compartment lid stops and holds its position.

NOTE: The power luggage compartment lid may not operate correctly under the following conditions:

If any of these conditions have occurred, the power luggage compartment lid must be re-initialized.

Power Luggage Compartment Lid Chime

The power luggage compartment lid chime provides audible warnings to the operator. The power luggage compartment lid chime speaker is part of the RGTM and not serviceable separately.

The power luggage compartment lid feature sounds an audible chime for 3 seconds when:

The power luggage compartment lid feature sounds an audible chime for 1 second when there is an open/close request and:

Component Description

Front Power Luggage Compartment Lid Switch

The front power luggage compartment lid switch (located on the instrument panel) is a momentary contact switch that routes the voltage signal from the RGTM to ground when pressed. Pressing this switch either opens, closes or stops the motion of the power luggage compartment lid.

Rear Power Luggage Compartment Lid Switch

The rear power luggage compartment lid switch (located on the inside of the luggage compartment lid) is a momentary contact switch that routes the voltage signal from the RGTM to ground when pressed. Pressing this switch closes the power luggage compartment lid. The power luggage compartment lid does not open or release the latch from the rear power luggage compartment lid switch.

Luggage Compartment Lid Release Switch

The luggage compartment lid release switch is a momentary contact switch that routes the voltage signal to ground when pressed. The signal is sent from the BCM and the RGTM .

If the doors were not previously electronically unlocked when the luggage compartment lid release switch is pressed, the BCM activates the luggage compartment lid passive entry feature. If the BCM detects a programmed passive key, the BCM sends a message to the RGTM to open the luggage compartment lid. If no passive key is detected, the request is ignored.

If the doors were previously electronically unlocked when the luggage compartment lid switch is pressed, the BCM sends a message to the RGTM to open the luggage compartment lid.

Any subsequent presses of the switch stops the motion or reverses direction.

Luggage Compartment Lid Latch

The luggage compartment lid latch is responsible for unlatching, latching and providing the ajar status of the latch. The luggage compartment lid latch contains the luggage compartment lid ajar switch and the unlatching motor.

Luggage Compartment Lid Power Striker Motor

The luggage compartment lid power striker motor contains a bi-directional motor and 2 switches. The switches are used to indicate top or bottom of travel of the power striker motor. Only one switch can be closed to ground at a time. When the luggage compartment lid power striker motor is between the top and bottom of travel, both switches are open.

Power Luggage Compartment Lid Motor

The power luggage compartment lid motor raises and lowers the luggage compartment lid. The power luggage compartment lid motor is bi-directional and contains a position sensor that provides input to the RGTM for luggage compartment lid position and velocity.

Position Sensor

The RGTM supplies voltage signals to the position sensor on a valid open command or when the luggage compartment lid is in the open position. The RGTM provides the ground. The position sensor has 2 data lines that the RGTM monitors to determine luggage compartment lid movement and position. The RGTM uses the luggage compartment lid position information to determine which direction to power the luggage compartment lid (open or close) when a valid operation command is received. The movement is monitored to identify obstructions.

RGTM

The RGTM sends voltage signals to the front and rear power luggage compartment lid switches and the luggage compartment lid release switch. When a switch is pressed, the signal is routed to ground, pulling the signal low, indicating a request to open or close the luggage compartment lid.

The RGTM receives a message from the BCM upon a valid request from the passive entry system or a RKE transmitter.

The RGTM controls the opening and closing of the power luggage compartment lid based on the inputs it receives.

The RGTM does not require Programmable Module Installation (PMI) when it is replaced.
