B115E:49 Camera Module: Internal Electronic Failure Sets in continuous memory and on-demand in the BCM when an internal fault in the rear video camera is detected. CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and REPEAT the self-test. If DTC B115E:49 returns, INSTALL a new rear video camera.
REFER to: Parking Aid Camera - Vehicles With: 4-Door (413-13B Parking Aid, Removal and Installation).
B115E:55 Camera Module: Not Configured Sets in continuous memory and on-demand in the BCM when the video camera is not configured. Using a diagnostic scan tool, PERFORM the rear video camera configuration.
B115E:9A Camera Module: Component or System Operating Conditions Sets as an on-demand DTC in the BCM when the prerequisite conditions are not met for the on-demand self test. INSPECT the decklid to make sure it is fully closed and DIAGNOSE any other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present in the BCM .

B115E:01 Camera Module: General Electrical Failure A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the BCM when an internal electrical failure is detected from the camera.
B115E:02 Camera Module: General Signal Failure A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the BCM when invalid LIN data is received from the video camera.
B115E:08 Camera Module: Bus Signal/Message Failure A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets in the BCM when there is a LIN communication fault from the video camera.

C1001:01 Vision System Camera: General Electrical Failure A continuous DTC that sets in the APIM when no video signal is detected from the video camera when the vehicle is in REVERSE.

PINPOINT TEST A : THE REAR VIDEO IS INOPERATIVE
A1   CHECK AND CLEAN THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA LENS
  • Clean and make sure the rear video camera lens is clear of any debris.
  • Ignition ON.
  • Test the video camera system and verify the video camera image.

Is the video camera concern still present?

Yes GO to A2
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by a dirty video camera lens.


A2   CHECK FOR CORRECT GEAR INPUT
  • While monitoring the IPC PRNDL indicator, momentarily select each gear in the entire range.

Does the PRNDL indicator match the gear selection?

Yes GO to A3
No

A3   CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using the diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?

Yes For BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B115E:01, B115E:02 or B115E:08, GO to A15
For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to the DTC chart in this section.
No GO to A4


A4   PERFORM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) RESET
  • Perform the APIM reset.
    REFER to: Reset the SYNC Module [APIM] (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: Touchscreen Display, General Procedures).
  • Test the system to determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes GO to A5
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent APIM concern.


A5   CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?

Yes For DTC C1001:01, GO to A7
For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), vehicles with THX® audio,
REFER to: Information and Entertainment System (415-00B Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: THX Audio System, Diagnosis and Testing).

For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), vehicles without THX® audio,
REFER to: Information and Entertainment System (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: Touchscreen Display, Diagnosis and Testing).
No GO to A6


A6   VERIFY AND ENABLE THE INOPERATIVE VIDEO CAMERA FEATURE
  • Verify and enable the inoperative video camera feature within the FDIM . Refer to the Owner's Literature.

Does the video camera feature operate correctly?

Yes The rear video camera system is operating correctly at this time. The video camera feature concern was caused by the feature being disabled. INSTRUCT the customer on how to enable and disable the rear video camera features. REFER to the Owner's Literature.
No GO to A7


A7   CHECK THE VIDEO DISPLAY
  • Observe the FDIM or FCDIM display while placing the vehicle in reverse.
  • Wait 30 seconds.

Does the display switch to video camera mode and display REAR VIDEO CAMERA IS UNAVAILABLE PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DEALERSHIP?

Yes GO to A8
No Vehicles with THX® audio,

Vehicles without THX® audio,

A8   CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE VIDEO CAMERA
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect Rear Video Camera C4360 .
  • Ignition ON.
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-1   Ground



Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

Yes GO to A9
No INSPECT BJB fuse 23 (15A). If the fuse is OK, repair the circuit for an open. If the fuse is not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams manual to identify the possible causes of the short circuit.


A9   CHECK FOR GROUND TO THE VIDEO CAMERA
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-6   Ground



Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes GO to A10
No REPAIR the circuit.


A10   CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
  • Disconnect APIM C3342 .
  • Ignition ON.
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-2   Ground
      C4360-3   Ground



Is any voltage present?

Yes REPAIR the circuit in question.
No GO to A11


A11   CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes GO to A12
No REPAIR the circuit in question.


A12   CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VIDEO SHIELD
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes GO to A13
No REPAIR the circuit in question.


A13   CHECK VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

Yes GO to A14
No REPAIR the affected circuit.


A14   CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
  • Disconnect BCM C2280D .
  • Ignition ON.
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-4   Ground



Is any voltage present?

Yes REPAIR the circuit.
No GO to A15


A15   CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Measure:

Is resistance less than 3 ohms ?

Yes GO to A16
No REPAIR the circuit.


A16   CHECK THE LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK (LIN) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-4   Ground



Is resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes GO to A17
No REPAIR the circuit.


A17   CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect and inspect the rear video camera connector.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the rear video camera connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new video camera.

No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

B1   CHECK AND CLEAN THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA LENS
  • Clean and make sure the rear video camera lens is clear of any debris.
  • Test the rear video camera system and inspect the video camera image.

Is the concern still present?

Yes GO to B2
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern was caused by dirt or debris on the camera lens.


B2   PERFORM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) RESET
  • Perform the APIM reset.
    REFER to: Reset the SYNC Module [APIM] (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: Touchscreen Display, General Procedures).
  • Test the system to determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes GO to B3
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent APIM concern.


B3   CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA GROUND CIRCUIT
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect Rear Video Camera C4360 .
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-6   Ground



Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes GO to B4
No REPAIR the circuit.


B4   CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
  • Disconnect APIM C3342 .
  • Measure:


    Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C4360-2   Ground
      C4360-3   Ground



Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes GO to B5
No REPAIR the circuit in question.


B5   CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
  • Ignition ON.
  • Measure:

No GO to B6

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?

Yes GO to B8
No REPAIR the affected circuit.


B8   CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect and inspect the rear video camera connector.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the rear video camera connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new video camera.

No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.



The Visual Park Aid Alert Is Inoperative

C1   VERIFY THE VISUAL PART AID ALERT IS ENABLED
  • Ignition ON.
  • In the rear camera settings menu, verify the visual park aid alert is enabled. Refer to the Owner's Literature.

Is the visual park aid alert enabled?

Yes GO to C2
No ENABLE the visual park aid alert.


C2   CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) SELF-TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the Parking Aid Module (PAM) self-test.

Are any Parking Aid Module (PAM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REPAIR all Parking Aid Module (PAM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) first. REFER to the Parking Aid Module (PAM) DTC Chart in this section.
No GO to C3


C3   CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?

Yes REFER to BCM DTC Chart in this section.
No GO to C4


C4   CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect and inspect the rear video camera connector.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the rear video camera connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new video camera.

No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.

  • Test the system for normal operation.

Does the video camera feature operate correctly?

Yes The video camera system is operating correctly at this time. The video camera feature concern was caused by the feature being disabled. INSTRUCT the customer on how to enable the video camera features. REFER to the Owner's Literature.
No GO to D2


D2   PERFORM A NETWORK TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.

Do all modules pass the network test?

Yes GO to D3
No
REFER to: Communications Network (418-00 Module Communications Network, Diagnosis and Testing).


D3   PERFORM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) RESET
  • Perform the APIM reset.
    REFER to: Reset the SYNC Module [APIM] (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: Touchscreen Display, General Procedures).
  • Test the system to determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes GO to D4
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent APIM concern.


D4   CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PSCM (POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a scan tool, perform the PSCM self-test.

Are any PSCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?

Yes
REFER to: Power Steering (211-02 Power Steering, Diagnosis and Testing).
No GO to D5


D5   CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

Are any BCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?

Yes REFER to the BCM DTC Chart in this section.
No GO to D6


D6   CHECK FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) retrieved?

Yes REFER to the APIM DTC Chart in this section.
No For a video camera delay concern, GO to D8
For a fixed or active guideline concern, GO to D7


D7   ISOLATE THE VIDEO CAMERA
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Test the system for normal operation.

Is the concern still present?

Yes GO to D9
No The concern was caused by an inoperative video camera.


D8   CHECK FOR CORRECT ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM) OPERATION
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect and inspect the APIM connector.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the APIM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, For diagnosing and testing please refer to the on-line Workshop Manual. If you do not have an on-line subscription, go to www.motorcraftservice.com.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.


D9   CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect all BCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM .

No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.



The Manual Zoom Is Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST E : THE MANUAL ZOOM IS INOPERATIVE
E1   PERFORM A NETWORK TEST
  • Ignition ON.
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a network test.

Do the BCM and the APIM pass the network test?

Yes GO to E2
No
REFER to: Communications Network (418-00 Module Communications Network, Diagnosis and Testing).


E2   CHECK FOR RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present?

Yes REFER to the BCM DTC Chart in this section.
No GO to E3


E3   PERFORM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) RESET
  • Perform the APIM reset.
    REFER to: Reset the SYNC Module [APIM] (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: Touchscreen Display, General Procedures).
  • Test the system to determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes GO to E4
No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent APIM concern.


E4   CHECK FOR RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) SELF-TEST
  • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.

Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes present?

Yes For DTC C1001:01, GO to Pinpoint Test A
For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), vehicles with THX® audio,
REFER to: Information and Entertainment System (415-00B Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: THX Audio System, Diagnosis and Testing).

For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), vehicles without THX® audio,
REFER to: Information and Entertainment System (415-00A Information and Entertainment System - General Information - Vehicles With: Touchscreen Display, Diagnosis and Testing).
No GO to E5


E5   CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION
  • Ignition OFF.
  • Disconnect and inspect the rear video camera connector.
  • Repair:
    • corrosion (install new connector or terminals – clean module pins)
    • damaged or bent pins – install new terminals/pins
    • pushed-out pins – install new pins as necessary
  • Reconnect the rear video camera connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
  • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new video camera.
REFER to: Parking Aid Camera - Vehicles With: 4-Door (413-13B Parking Aid, Removal and Installation).
No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
