Roof Opening Panel Shield

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

NOTE: If using original threaded retainers, clean the thread locking adhesive from threads, then apply new thread locking adhesive.

  1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

  1. To hard stop.
  1. NOTICE: When reuse of the original roof opening panel shield is required, hold and secure the fabric roll firmly against the retaining bracket on both sides when removing and until installed. Separation of the fabric roll and the bracket may cause a loss of fabric tension and component failure.

    1. NOTE: For reuse of existing roof opening panel shield, make sure the drive cable is properly aligned before installing alignment pins during removal.

      Both sides.
    1. NOTE: Cable alignment pins are attached in position on a new roof opening panel shield.

      For reuse of existing roof opening panel shield, insert cable alignment pins (or a 4mm hex end wrench) on both sides.
  1. Both sides.

Installation

  1. Both sides.
  1. NOTE: If using original threaded retainers, clean the thread locking adhesive from threads, then apply new thread locking adhesive.

    Material : Threadlock 262 / TA-26 (WSK-M2G351-A6)
    Torque : 5 Nm
  1. NOTE: A roof opening panel shield tension retaining pin is positioned on a new roof opening panel shield assembly.

    If new roof opening panel shield is installed.
  1. While turning the motor in each direction, an assistant must observe and verify that the roof opening panel shield moves forward and backward on both sides to make sure the cable alignment is correct before moving the roof opening panel shield with the switch. If not, repeat procedure from installation step 1.
