Power Roof Opening Panel Initialization

WARNING: Keep objects and body parts clear of the glass panel when carrying out the initialization procedure. During the initialization procedure, the glass panel closes with high force and cannot detect objects in its path. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTE: A new roof opening panel must be initialized after installation. Until the drive assembly has been initialized, the express open and close switch inputs are disabled.

NOTE: The roof opening panel initialization procedure must be done when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel system, or when excessive false reversals are experienced.

NOTE: If the roof opening panel glass is very close to proper alignment specifications, this procedure may align the glass.

  1. NOTE: All passenger doors must remain closed for this procedure.

    Open the shield fully, then open the glass panel part way.
  1. Open the driver door and position the ignition switch ON, engine OFF.
  1. Close the driver door and wait for the map/overhead console lamps to turn off.
  1. NOTE: Perform steps 4 - 6 within 5 seconds.

    Press the left map lamp switch 1 time turning it on.
  1. Press and release the right map lamp switch 4 times turning it on, off, on, and finally off.
  1. NOTE: The map lamps should flash when this step is complete.

    Press and release the left map lamp switch 1 time turning it off.
  1. NOTE: The map lamps should stop flashing when this step is complete.

    Press and release the left map lamp switch 1 time.
  1. Press and hold the glass close switch until the glass is fully closed. Release the glass close switch.
  1. Immediately, press and hold the glass close switch until the shield is fully closed and remain holding until the glass bounces back slightly (twitches), verified by an audible kick from the motor (approximately 3-5 seconds after the shield stops). Release the glass close switch.
  1. Immediately, press and hold the glass close switch until the shield and the glass both move to full open, and then the glass and the shield both move back to the fully closed positions. Release the glass close switch.
  1. Position the ignition switch to the OFF position, wait 10 seconds then position the ignition switch to ON, engine off.
  1. Test the system for normal operation. If the roof opening panel does not operate correctly, repeat the procedure.
