Transfer Shaft

DISASSEMBLY

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

  1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
  1. General Equipment : Bearing Separator
    General Equipment : Hydraulic Press
    1. Inspect the park pawl wheel for damage and install new, if necessary.
    1. Inspect the transfer shaft and transfer shaft input gear for damage and install new, if necessary.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Special Tool(s) : 307-587 Differential bearing installer and guide
    General Equipment : Hydraulic Press
  1. Select a new transfer shaft shim.
    Refer to: Torque Converter Housing (307-01A Automatic Transmission - Vehicles With: 6-Speed Automatic Transmission - 6F50, Disassembly and Assembly of Subassemblies).
