Selector Lever Cable

Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

  1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
  1. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4, Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE: Remove the RH side fender splash shield.

    Refer to: Fender Splash Shield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).

  1. NOTE: Release the locking tab on the TRCM electrical connector before disconnecting.

Installation

  1. Torque : 7 Nm
  1. Torque : 15 Nm

  1. NOTE: Install the RH side fender splash shield.

    Refer to: Fender Splash Shield (501-02 Front End Body Panels, Removal and Installation).
  1. Torque : 9 Nm
    1. Move the slide to the left.
    1. While holding the slide, position the adjuster lock upward.
  1. Using the diagnostic scan tool select the cable adjustment mode.

  1. NOTE: The D must be illuminated on the GSM display.

    1. Press D on the GSM .

  1. NOTE: Verify D is illuminated on the IPC .

    1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
    1. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise one detent.
  1. Torque : 7 Nm

  1. NOTE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.

  1. NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the selector lever cable end to make sure it is securely installed.

  1. Press P on the GSM .
  1. Clear the DTCs.
  1. Shift the transmission through the ranges starting in P , then R , then N , then D , then N , then R and then back to P .
  1. Check for DTCs.
  1. Disconnect the scan tool.
  1. Refer to: Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe (303-12B Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.0L EcoBoost (184kW/250PS) - MI4, Removal and Installation).
  1. Verify that the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R .
